When I was in 8th grade I took a career aptitude test. The first time I too it it told me that I should be a Taxi Driver. I took the test again and gave it some thought instead of trying to get done with it quickly and its result was Photographer. I don't like beaded car seats so I decided photography would be a better route.
Growing up my mom worked, and still does work, at the local newspaper. I remember always asking if I could take pictures whenever she would bring home a camera or when she was asked to take pictures ar things like the county fair. I was always so excited when the camera was handed over to me and I had my own roll of film to play with.
Today I'm just as excited when I pull my camera out of the bag or arrive for a great event. I love being able to take my camera and tell people a story, from the dusty sunsets of a rodeo to the passion that musicians pour into their performances. I continue to strive to create new photographs and do things that I've never done through photography.
I have many accomplishments that I'm proud of early in my career, including a 2010 Colorado Press Association award for best news photography, numerous juried show awards, and was named the 2006 TIme Magazine "Person of the Year."
